The daughter of missionaries, I was raised in East Africa where we lived until I was 14. Just before beginning high school, we moved to Germany where I spent the next four years of my life. Upon graduation, I joined a program called Mission Year — a year-long urban missions program that works in various cities across the United States. Mission Year placed me in Houston, where I had the opportunity to work with and learn from wonderful people and organizations. Now I am 21 years old and have just finished my second year at Houston Community College. In the fall I will transfer to the University of Houston where I will study Creative Writing. My goal is to find ways of integrating my passion for writing and other forms of creativity with my passion for people and loving them as Christ calls us to do.
I am originally from Pompano Beach, Fla., and am a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, where I received my bachelor’s degree in construction science. I am currently working on my master’s degree in community development. My goal is to one day start my own non-profit organization geared towards helping youth and homeless individuals.
